Spring break is almost over! Ahhh.... haha, i'm not really looking back to getting into the studios again. MOstly because I'll be working on the demo reel. Of which, I have an idea for .... mmm, I guess the music side of my reel. So I stumbled onto this one site while I was making my game audio engine (evil MaxMSP). Zreo is where they take Zelda music and transcribe it so that it sounds like a real orchestra is playing. Which is kinda odd, because with the total rise in audio quality for video games, I didn't think that they'd have as much on the newer ones like Twilight Princess, but whatever. The other cool thing they do is they create soundscapes. For examples, if you play the sacred grove soundscape, they have the theme plus an ominous wind and bid chirping and whatnot. I'm thinking about doing that but with other games. MOst notably "Find Your Way" from FF8. I'll probably have to transcribe and remix a lil also. Which will be interesting, and fun, and pretty easy. But what I'm worried about most is my post demo reel since I'm trying to get a job at dreamworks. So far, I'm thinking about adding clips to it. I'm thinking of adding something from the new kingdom heart: birth by sleep footage, and maybe the sword fight in Stardust. The one where robert de niro is in drag. Also maybe an epic scene from Narnia, Prince Caspian. So far I have the opening scene where Will Smith is shooting at deer from the car in I am Legend, the new Kia Soul commercial and Rayman Raving Rabbids 2: Japan commercial.
Mmmm, maybe cut the stardust one and add Narnia. I dunno. Can't be over 3 mins, although I think I'm gonna push it to 4. Fuck it. I've seen 4 min ones on youtube. The only problem is finding time......
On another note. Phil Spector is guilty. Not exactly new news, but it's official. It's great because we all had this talk wiht Jack Douglas when he was lecturing. For anyone who doesn't know, Jack was the producer/engineer for Aerosmith, John Lennon, The Who and whatnot. One of the last people to see John alive and is called the fifth member of Aerosmith. Haha, he told us that if we skipped out on a gig, we had better call everyone so they know and find a replacement. Unless it's Phil. Then we should get someone to replace us, hand them kevlar and run. Run for sweet life.
