So I accomplished something I`d never before . I managed to catch all the 10 Oscar Best Picture nominees this year before the actual Academy Awards ceremony! :D
It was my personal goal to try and finish the list atleast this year and I`m thrilled that I have !
So inorder to celebrate my 'achievement' I decided to rank the 10 Best Picture nominees from my most to least favourite .
The year 2010 has been a very good one for films and almost everyone agrees that all the Best Picture contenders are all strong and worthy of their critical success. The selection has it all - sci fi , action, thrillers , heartwarming stories , heavy emotional drama etc.
I`ve ranked them based on my personal preferences and don`t worry there are no spoilers ;)
Let me know what you think :)

Trailer Inception: From the moment I set eyes on the screen this film left me in awe of it`s greatness. No I`m not being dramatic but the film is a visual treat! A great ensemble cast, a deliciously layerd script and technically near perfect , no film can top Christopher Nolan`s 'Inception' this year for me. His snub in the Best Director category had me wondering if I was having a nightmare! But anyway with 8 oscar nominations 'Inception' is the thinking man`s action flick of a great visionary director.

Trailer The King`s Speech : Subtle , beautiful and charming are what come first to mind when I think of TKS. I found myself getting misty eyed throughout. The opening scene really sets the tone of the movie so beautifully that you can`t help but fall in love with the characters right there. The star of this movie is undoubtedly Colin Firth whose performance lifts this film to greatness . I also enjoyed Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham`s beautiful portayals. The cinematography is a bit unnderrated because I found it really lovely . I look forward to see Mr Firth walk up on stage to recieve his overdue and well deserved Oscar for my favourite performance of the year :')

Trailer The Social Network: So this one turned out to be so much more than just 'the facebook movie'. The fantastic writing sucks you in right from scene #1 and the perfect ensemble cast manage to hold your attention throughout the duration of the film. Andrew Garfield was ROBBED of an Oscar nomination which broke my heart because he was the soul of this film. Never the less I hope David Fincher gets some love for creating a movie that is not only smart and interesting but so relevant and current that you just can`t ignore it!
I love how anonymous described the movie and I think it sums it up perfectly
"The Social Network, that original, deep, dark, witty, ironic, resonant tale drawing eternal truths from one of the quintessential stories of our time, about the way we live now, about our modernity, our technology, and how our most astonishing modern dream-narrative, our desire for friendship and social life, is beholden to the same human flaws and urges and impulses as our forever past…"

Trailer 127 Hours:Okay I never expected to like this film as much as I ended up doing! The directing and editing was near perfect. Moreover I never found myself drifting away because the writing was insanely good! James Franco displayed the character`s emotions beautifully ! I`m so glad that this film managed 6 noms including Best Picture and Actor because for a minute there it felt like it was losing momentum . Well done Danny Boyle! 127 hours goes so much more deeper than just your average action-adventure film. A real treat it was!

Trailer The Kid`s are Alright: This movie comes in at #5 purely for the astounding ensemble cast and the acting on display. Frankly speaking the script was definitely lacking in places but the subtle performaces by especially Annette Benning , Mark Ruffalo (who I`m so thrilled has been nominated!) and Mia Wasikowska blew me away!

Trailer Black Swan: It was only until I reached the final 10 minutes of 'Black Swan' that I realized how fantastic it was! The entire film is a thrilling emotional rollercoaster but the final act will leave you gasping for air! The acting by Natalie Portman and Barbara Hershey was spot on! The movie is chillingly beautiful and yes some of the scenes are disturbing but it`s worth it! The score is amazing and fitting.'Black Swan' is dark , seductive , fascinating and in the end breathtaking.

Trailer Toy Story 3 : Yes I shed a few tears too :') TS3 was beautifully moving and inspiring not to mention adorable beyond words ! I found it a little darker but that didn`t take away from the fact that the storytelling is flawless . Another pixar masterpiece :)

Trailer The Fighter: I was pleasantly surprised at how much I actually enjoyed 'The Fighter' . I think this film had my favorite ensemble cast tied with 'The Kid`s are Alright'. Christian Bale lifts this film from being just another average cliched sports film with his remarkable performance as disgraced ex-boxer Dicky. He was almost unrecognisable. I hope that the AMPAS doesn`t forget to reward this great actor on Oscar night because like Colin he`s also overdue ! Again a very nice and uplifting film !

Trailer True Grit : Okay I`m not really into westerns and I haven`t seen the original John Wayne adaptation of 'True Grit' either which is probably why I wasn`t all that excited about this film. It is good and technically sound with some brilliant cinematography and wonderful acting by young Hailee Steinfeld. Unfortunately I wasn`t really blown away but entertaining enough for a one time watch.

Trailer Winter`s Bone : There are some movies that are just not made for everyone and 'Winter`s Bone' is one of those. I found the movie extremely heavy , bleak and dark. The excellent performance by Jennifer Lawrence and the shockingly realistic portrayal of rural American life stand out but unfortunately I was never able to completely 'get into' the film or it`s characters. I`m not saying it`s a bad film but it just didn`t really click for me and I would call it a tad bit overrated . Jennifer Lawrence`s strong acting however saved it for me. I`m still not over how amazing she was in it!
