Just wanted to make this quick post to say thank you for all the wonderful birthday wishes last month! I got so many on twitter and tumblr but also a special thank you for the ones here on lj :)
Thank you so much setentpet and florencia7 for the beautiful little v-gifts!

And many thanks to querita , felicityking , sanya4 , elysium_22 , grendel_mother and vexena_sky for the personal messages!

I watched 'Thor: The Dark World' yesterday. Here's my mini review :)

I was excited for this movie ever since they made the announcement because I really really liked the first part :) I suppose my expectations were a bit too high though because this one did not blow me away.
I liked it and it was enjoyable but no - not a great film. It was good a sequel but as a standalone film it was very average. The reason why I can't dislike this movie however is because I love all the characters so much. This movie had heart. One doesn't really watch marvel for the plotlines anyway I suppose lol It lacked 'epicness' and wasn't as 'grand'. I didn’t love it but it was a good watch.

What I liked:
- TOM HIDDLESTON AS LOKI! He was brilliant alright and I wish he had more scenes. I kept craving more Loki and Thor/Loki moments because they were all amazing!
- Frigga! She was brilliant and that's all I'll say without spoiling anything.
- Chris Hemsworth was fine as Thor. His acting was good and he looked even better ;)
- The costumes and make-up for the villians was well done imo. I really liked the look overall.
- The VFX were over-the-top but pretty. Every scene of Asgard left me breathless.
- The brilliant cameo by you know who ;)

What I didn't like:
- Malakeith was not a menacing enough villian idk
- Sadly Hemsworth and Portman don't have enough chemistry which is why I find Thor/Jane super boring sorry :(
- Portman's character annoyed me in this one for some reason.
- The plot was too muddled and it was hard to figure out what was going on at times.
- The pacing was off and film lacked structure. The editing was choppy too.
- Not enough Loki.

I loved that they didn't go down the love-traingle route. Sif's dislike of Jane was subtle and well done without being childish and over dramatic. I love Sif and wish they gave her more to do. Broke my heart when Thor didn't return her affection.
The ambiguous ending omg. It was a good ending but why so many unanswered questions?
Frigga's funeral was one of the most beautiful scenes ever! I got chocked up!
Another great scene was Loki's 'death'. Damn it was an emotional moment.

Looking forward to 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' next. I'm very impressed by the trailer for that one so let's see how it turns out ;)
