For the first time in a long time I was actually fully entertained during an awards show and all credit goes to the two fantastic and hilarious ladies - Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. I hope they run for a joint-presidency soon.
I had a blast live-tweeting the show with my awesome gals -
lolilie ,
veritas724 ,
saltybread,
breakattiffanys and others on twitter/tumblr.
The opening monolgue was ace! Someone even mentioned that they didn't crack any sexual jokes and I never realized that. Bravo girls! Everytime the left the stage we all wanted them to come back ;) Best hosting decision by the HFPA.
Now coming to the show - overall it was good and satisfactory. Nothing too outrageous and disappointing.
THE GOOD
- AMY POEHLER AND TINA FEY!THE ACTUAL STARS OF THE GOLDEB GLOBES WHO DESERVE AWARDS FOR HOSTING!
- Jessica Chastain's win and speech! I loved her tribute to Katheryn Bigelow.
- Ben Affleck's win! (YEAH TAKE THAT STUPID ACADEMY!)
- Argo winning BP . (Okay I'm still not sure if Argo is a deserving BP winner but I was just so happy for Ben Affleck that I didn't care!)
- Two wins for Django! YES! Christoph is always so gracious in his speeches.
- So nice to see bollywood actress Tabu at the 'Life of Pi' table. She so gracious and her talent is so underrated. One of the best bollywood actresses and it was so nice to see her represent the film and Indian cinema :)
THE BAD
- I'm sure it was meaningful but Jodie Foster's speech was all over the place. She was so nervous and rambly I really couldn't figure out what she was saying :-/
- I wanted A Royal Affair to win Foreign Language film but oh well
- Leo! :'( (Not that I don't like Christoph but gah I wanted Leo to get it after that oscar snub!)
- Why has Amy Poehler not won yet for Parks and Rec????/ WHY WHY WHY?
And now the fashion! ;) Lots of pretty dresses this time. Stars like Lea Michelle and Amy Adams looked fab here are my top 5 :
Honorable mention : Lucy Liu in Carolina Herrera
I'm still not entirely feel about this dresses but it had a good fit . The print looks more like something you'd see on a bedsheet but she took a risk but and somehow managed to do pretty well I think.
5. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture
4. Julianne Moore in Tom Ford
3. Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen
2. Emily Blunt in Michael Kors
1. Michelle Dockery in Alexandre Vauthier
Your thoughts on the globes? :)
Looking forward to the oscars! The race is so so unpredictable and exciting now! We are still not sure how things are going to shape up. There are no clear locks in any of the major categories. This is going to be fun ;)
