[There's no preamble or context leading up to the video. It's meant to be private, so Izuna spares no wasted breath on filling his audience in on what the one person intended already knows. He offers no censorship, since the man doesn't suffer a weak stomach.
(
Cut for disturbing/triggery imagery. )
You might want to hide the PCD the next time you rip an eyeball out.

[Well ... that's an understatement. His hands shake and fist, only to relax forcefully a moment later. He can't lose his temper at Zuko, its not Zuko's fault. Izuna knows this, but it makes his false smile no less tense in the knowing.
Everyone has an opinion on the aesthetic vulgarity. No ones asked if he's alright. Comments like this would have been easier for him to stomach with a precursor of concern, even faked.]

[Zuko rarely asks people if they're okay, mainly because if it were him, that would be the last thing he'd want to hear. Of course Izuna isn't okay. The man's eyes are rotting out of his sockets. But he carefully chooses his next words, in a manner that would avoid asking Izuna what he's trying to do -- because it's obvious -- and still ensure his safety.
He's Sasuke's uncle, after all.]
You should go to Unohana to get yourself cleaned up.
[It wouldn't do to have the rot spread to the rest of Izuna's face.]

She's a good listener, too.
[The connotation of what they would talk about needs not to be explained.]

I'll limit the number of witnesses to my shame as much as I can.

[It's not hard to admit, Zuko doesn't exactly wander around telling everyone about what happened to his face.]
You shouldn't be ashamed of trying, though.

Mine isn't --
[Zuko pauses before blinking. Izuna is blind. He's never actually seen Zuko's face. This knowledge is... oddly freely. Should he say it? Should he not? ... tch, what does it even matter? Follow your own advice, Fire Prince.]
Mine isn't the prettiest sight either. I... was going to have it fixed, once.
[And here, he sounds uncomfortable. Katara. Ba Sing Se. The spirit water. Zuko had an opportunity of a lifetime and he threw it away.]
I let pride get in the way and I tossed away an opportunity to get rid of something I'm ashamed of. It's... not worth it.
[A pause.]
And yeah. Filtering is good.

He nibbles into his lower lip when the story reaches its morale, his voice lifting, soft and pensive.]
Would to correct it now, if you had the chance?

... no. It's a reminder. Doesn't mean I didn't wish I had taken the chance then, though.

I'd feel the same way if this was a cosmetic problem and not --
inconvenient.
[Somehow 'inconvenient' doesn't fully encompass it, but Izuna doesn't resent his blindness - but it IS problematic pretty much all the time. It resulted in his death, as well. Having his eyes back would make him feel like less of a burden.]

[It's a rather simple statement. Zuko isn't exactly the king of optimism.]

[After a long, thoughtful pause-]
Zuko... thank you for telling me this.
