I discovered
Sympathy for the Record Industry in college. They were responsible for releasing "The First Session" from Hole, as well as the first two albums (self-titled and De Stijl) from Detroit garage rockers/media darlings The White Stripes.
Plus, the label's founder,
Long Gone John, not only a. reminded me of one of my more idiosyncratic exes; and b. is a long-time supporter of one of my favorite art magazines,
Juxtapoz.
So it is with great joy that I announce
The Treasures of Long Gone John, a documentary about the strange charming entrepreneur behind one of America's best-loved indie labels!
Hmm... maybe I could convince somebody at
The Guild that it deserves a screening!
