BTW, don't let me forget to tell you the story some time about buying that ring! Put it this way: I bought it almost a decade ago and I STILL remember the transaction. ;P

Exercised, ate dinner, washed the dishes and showered. NOW I can tell stories! ;)

So anyhow, about, erm... eight or so (?) years ago while shopping at Buffalo Exchange, I spotted a sterling silver adjustable ring with Malcolm X's picture on it, stuffed into one of the jewelry cases. Having been an admirer of the man and his work since the age of 12, I knew I simply had to have it.
I asked the nice young blonde woman behind the counter to take it out so I could try it on. She looked at the image on the ring and then at me before asking in a high squeaky voice, "Isn't that the guy from Falling Down?"
As in Hollywood super-honky Michael DouglasI stared at her for a moment, scanning her round face for any traces of sarcasm. When that came up empty, I blinked and said as calmly as possible, "Ummm, no. You're thinking of Michael Douglas, who played a character in a movie about fictional white rage. The man on the ring is Malcolm X, who embodied REAL Black rage ( ... )
