eep! where's the editor?

So I'm reading my textbook for Human Development and the Social Environment and it's talking about the social and environmental factors that affect pregnancy, and thus the unborn child. This is what it says,

"In short, no child is born in a vacuum."

I'm not sure that this was the best choice of words....
