shouldn't our president, the leader of the WHOLE NATION, address the WHOLE NATION about this huge development instead of speaking among his protective supporters on the CAMPAIGN TRAIL?

Well... no. Outside of campaign rhetoric I wouldn't call it a "huge development". More like par for the course. This is nothing. What about the nuclear material that a mining subsidiary of Halliburton "lost" in Africa back about three years ago?
