Okay. SO it's been a while since I posted here, but I wanted to get all this stuff written down before I forgot it all.
I had an amazing time in TX at the American Short Course Championships with Blair, Meesh, Chris, Ty, Peter, The H's and Erin.
Wednesday: School all day, and then to the airport. My flight got in just fine, and Peter and Meesh were waiting at baggage claim. It was quite amusing..they looked like they were my mom and dad sitting there waiting together. We got back to the hotel at like 11, and Blair was already sleeping in our bed. Haha. She, Meesh and the boys had driven from Alabama that day and were exhausted. We all hung around for a little bit, but then went to bed, because we were all exhausted.
Thursday: Up bright and early for prelims. We went down to breakfast for the buffett at Fridays. We got an awesome deal on the hotel, and breakfast and parking were complimentary. Saw the H's at breakfast, went and talked to them all. Met the g-peeps..oh man are they adorable people. One of the best families ever, that group. Then we went to prelims. Parking was a pain in the butt because it was a school day, and I had to lug Meesh's heavy camera case everywhere for her, but it was worth it. Everyone swam really well, and it was cool to see the TX team in their home pool. Ian qualified first for the 100 fly, Brendan qualified first for the 200 IM and Chappy qualified first for the 500 free. All was right with the world :) After prelims Bren and Chappy came up to sit in the stands with us all and we chatted for a bit. Those two are awesome people.
We went back to the hotel and went up to the g-peeps room for lunch. They brought a bunch of sandwich stuff, and it was awesome. We all sat around talking and telling stories. Man g-pop loves telling his stories. While the H's went on a run, we went back to the room and watched TV for a bit. Then Finals. It started off with Ian on the relay, he split a 19.11. 19.11!! So crazy. The team broke the pool record, and it was the best way to start off the night. Then Ian went on to win the 100 fly as well, because he's awesome like that. Then Chappy won his 500 Free, and we were all so happy for him! Bren got 4th in his final, but he wasn't expecting much more than that, so it was okay.
When finals was over, we went to Trudy's for dinner. Man, I love that place. Meesh had to get her stuffed avocado. Back to the hotel it was, to upload Meesh's videos and update our websites. Also, we got the crazy Idea to make one for Chappy. He joked around last time we saw him that he was sad Bren had a site and he didn't, and hade made us bring him a BHO shirt (which he had threatened to wear to finals, but never did). So Meesh and I get the great idea to start making him one at liek 2 in the morning.
www.ConciergeChappy.com was born. I made a t-shirt to wear to the meet the next day, and we laughed so hard while doing all this. We figured they would all think we were crazy, and rightfully so. I called lala and talked to her at like 3 am, and then didn't get to sleep til 4:30 putting the finishing touches on my shirt. :)
Friday: We went down to breakfast, and I of course had my shirt on. The H's saw it and thought it was one of the most amusing things ever. Mr H texted Bren about it, who in turn texted Chappy, who told his whole family. Hahah. We went to prelims, which were pretty cool as well. Bren qualified first for the 100 Breast. He swam the prelim for the 100 back as well. Funny story, before it started he was standing in front of lane 1 for the longest time, but when his heat finally came up, he was listed as being in lane 6, so he had to run over there. The look on his face was priceless. Nick Brunelli swam the 100 Breast Prelim, which was pretty cool to see. Chappy qualified in the B final for the 100 back. Mid prelims Bren came over and sat with the family for a while. He told us Eddie was pulling him out of the meet because of his legs being fatigued and wanting to save himself for WOrlds in a month. Made sense to me, but was still kind of sad that he would be done for the meet.
It was pretty adorable. While Bren was sitting with us, all these people kept asking him for pictures and autographs. It makes me laugh a bit because, at this point, I don't think of Brendan like that at all. Didn't see Chappy at all during prelims, but I decided I wanted him to sign my shirt, because it would make it even that much more amusing.
We went to Rudy's for lunch, which is such a cool place. Part of the reason we went was also to get Mr H off my back about never being there. The place is literally a gas station. You go inside and its like this counter, you pick a sode, and then they have this awesome BBQ with a bunch of different types of meats sitting there ready to be freshly sliced for you. So good. After Rudy's was finals. With no Ian or Brendan swimming in the finals, there really wasn't a stand out race to me. The 100 back was cool because Chappy won his consolation heat, but other than that...nothing really big. At the end I flagged down Chappy to show him my shirt. He loved it, the boy was eating up al the attention. He said that his parents loved it too, and we're so happy that they were able to watch. He was down on the deck, and said he would come up and sign it after he went and got dressed, etc. Long story short, we waited for about 20 min and he didnt show up so we left. So he and I were in a fight. Haha
After finals we came back to the hotel, and were all still so full from Rudys that we didn't really need dinner. We did, however, go get ice cream at this place called Amy's. Kickass ice cream. Then we came back to the hotel and went up to the g-peeps room, to find only g-pop there. He sent me down to fetch the rest of the family, because I was the youngest one there. He knows me one day and is already treating me like that! They are lucky they are such cool people and I love them.We ended up hanging out in the bar at Fridays with all of the Hansens, except g-pop who stayed in his room to watch Nashville Star. Good times were had. People got really drunk and amusing. Mrs H laughed so hard she couldnt speak, which in turned caused us all to do the same. I told her about being in a "fight" with Chappy, which I regretted the next day because she took me seriously. Haha. The we all went upstairs and to bed.
Saturday: Woke up. Breakfast at the Fridays. Headed over to the pool for Prelims. Ian qualified first for the 100 free, and Chappy qualified for the A Finals of the 100 back. I was watching the meet, and all of a sudden I see Chappy coming down. He sits in front of me and is like "So are we in a fight?" I told him yes, I was angry at him, because he is my friend, then we go and make a site for him, and he gets a little fame from winning a race, and he forgets all about me and the little people. Sat and joked with Chappy for a bit. He does a pretty good impression of Mrs H. The Hs were sitting a few rows over from us, talking to a Texas-ex and oogling over his new baby. Mrs H wouldnt stop playing with the thing..she wants grandkids so badly! Anyway, while they were over there Ian went and talked to them for a while. The whole time he was standing there I was like hmm I should go talk to him, the Hs are right there and its a perfect excuse...but I didn't. I wussed out, and we left.
On the way out of the pool, guess who we ended up walking with? Yeah. Guess who held the door open for us? Yeah. Haha..guess who still didn't get up the guts to say anything more than 'Thanks' to him? Yeah. :( Did get to see Josephine though...man is she pretty.
After that we went to Lunch at Guero's..such good food. It was 80 degrees out that day, and I layed on the sidewalk while we we waited for our table, hopefully not blinding all passers by with my whiteness. After an awesome lunch, we walked South Congress for a while, and checked out some of the awesome shops. Me, Meesh, Blair and Ty did that for a while, found the
most amusing book ever. So Meesh had to buy it, of course, to embarass the H's with at the meet. It was nice to kinda get out of the hotel and actually walk Austin for a bit, see the city.
Then it was back to finals! Erin came and joined our cheering section, which was awesome because shes a cool girl :) Ian notonly won the 100 free, but he pretty much kicked ass and took names. He broke the pool record, and was only .06 seconds shy of breaking the American Record. I screamed so much my throat hurt. Chappy also did awesome in his final, placing third. His parents were there for that night, and were super adorable, cheering along with us. After a few races, I looked up the stands, and saw Ian standing at the top, searching the crown. Everyone had been making so much fun of me for not talking to Ian earlier in the day, but I was still kinda eh about going up and talkign to him. Mrs H saw who I was looking at and said "Sarah, I have to go to the bathroom and you need to come with me." I was like...haha awe stop. And G-mom said "Go. Dont be the reason she pees her pants!" Hah Love that family. So Mrs H and I walked up to Ian and she said congrats to him for the swim, as did I, then he was like..so hey, how are ya? what have you been up to? and we talked for a while about things. It was really cool to just kinda hang and actually have a real convo with the kid. Random points from the convo: he was sad to take down biondis record bc its history and teh guy is a legend; he feels amazing, swimming-wise. thinks this is going to be a great world champs; i told him he was making me want to go to melbourne, and he looked/sounded all sad when i told him i wasnt going, said he had thought i was; i told him i didnt want to go back home to the cold, he told me to stay in tx; he asked me how much longer i was in school for, and hes pretty much on the same schedule-his plan in graduating in december; i fixed his shirt sleeve because it was messed up and bothering me, he laughed and said that it was good i was there to keep him in line; i made fun of him for being a wuss to the cold weather, he told me hes no longer a maine boy, he cant take the grey skies for too long; many other things because hes awesome and we talked for like a half hour. At one point in the conversation Peter Bick walked by, and Ian and I said hi to him. Then he started snapping pictures of the two of us while we were talking. I hate pictures, so I tried to like, hide my face. Ian laughed at me and told me to stop it, and he wanted to see one of these pictures on the website. So I sucked it up and smiled. Then I felt bad monopolizing so much of his time, especially because he had told me he had friends visiting, so I went to go sit down with the Hs again. I said bye and it was nice catching up with him, and seeing him, and wished him good luck at Worlds, and went to go walk away. The I heard 'hey!' and I turned back around and he had his arms open for a hug. <33 Adore this boy. I found out after that Ian had been up there looking for me anyway :) He had been talking to Peter on deck, and asked him where I was sitting. Peter pointed us out, and up Ian came :) For the rest of the finals I was a flustered mess. I felt my face turn red, and I was just so happy and it was corny and horrible, but great at the same time. Love him. We also met Chappys parents and brother, who thanked up a million times for putting together his website. Theyre pretty awesome people. His dad introduced himself as the original Chappy. So fantastic
After finals, we decided to go into town and walk 6th street to find somewhere to eat. After alot of walking, and us not being able to get into places because I was the ONLY one under 21, we went to this really nice place whose name I cant remember at the moment. After we ate we went back to the hotel and just hung out, uploaded pictures and videos, updated websites. Then we decided to go out to get ice cream..actually we got gellatto, but whatever. I called lala and squeed to her about the whole Ian thing, and all was good. We brought Erin back to her car by the pool, and went back to the hotel to sleep. Long day. haha
Sunday: Erin met us at the hotel for breakfast, she was sitting talking to Chappy, who was working as the Concierge for the hotel, when we got down to the lobby. We ate at the buffet, and then went back to the lobby to hang out with Chappy, and watch him in action doign his concierge thing. Hes such an amusing kid. I also made him sign my shirt, and embarassed him in front of all his work friends. He wrote "BHO girls are the best! Thanks for all your support. <3 CHAPPY" and he signed it. Then we went up to the rooms and packed up our stuff and Meesh's car. Came back down, and joined the H's and Chappy's who were still sitting eating and talking at Fridays. We hung around and talked with them for a while, until it was time to leave to take me to the airport. The g-peeps said I have to go have dinner at their house sometime soon, and Im holding them to that promise. CHappys family thanked us again for the site, and Mrs H freaked out that it was supposed to be snowing when I landed in NY, she thought something was going to go wrong. Shes paranoid like that, but I love her anyway. Then we went to say bye to Chappy, and were on our way.
My flight was on time and it was a great flight. The problem I had was when I got to baggage claim. It took them like an hour to get the stuff from my flight to the terminal, so dad and i sat around a bit.
