I struggle with the idea of praying for someone who is down on their luck. When people ask me to pray for them or for someone else, it makes me uncomfortable. What kind of God would save Johnny from cancer because 50 people were praying for him? That implies that He might not save Johnny if only 49 people prayed for him

i don't think it's a matter of "strength in numbers"
i think it's alot like that expression "keep me in your thoughts"
ppl just want other ppl to think of them & at least *act* like they care.
i've told numerous ppl before "i'll be praying for you"
often, i don't.
i feel like God can hear my statement & He knows my heart.. if i feel for those ppl, He'll know it.
i don't think prayer changes God's plan, either.
i think what happens, happens.
maybe God wants us to pray for Steve & his cancer & Steve comes back from the "brink of death", but it wasn't in God's plan for steve to die.. so, even if only 1 person prayed for him (probably his wife or mother.. or boyfriend, whatever), the person who prayed would be profoundly affected/effected & would be able to believe (often for the first time evAR) that God heard their prayers.
do you think God would really change His mind about whether or not it was time for someone to die based on one person's prayer? or 10000 ppl's prayers?
i'm not sure.
what i do know is that prayer brings ppl closer to God, mends hearts, heals souls and restores faith (if only for a brief time)
usually if someone says "please pray for me", i don't.
it's a psychological thing.. it's like someone saying "don't tickle me".. i'm gonna have to do it.
i asked ppl to pray for me & trol when he was in jail.
i don't know if anyone did. i don't care if they did.
all i know is it warmed my heart when ppl told me they were praying for us b/c i felt like they cared.
*shrug*
i'm sure it wouldn't warm your heart, though.. as you are a heartless bastard.
=p
