Leaf Haiku

Apr 06, 2009 22:20

A drab brown street crab
Scuttles, skittish down concrete
Coastlines, clacking claws.

First frost now tasted,
Jump ship and break for the South,
Toward sugar sun.

An open water
Snake carries paper kayaks
To balmy bayous.

But green needles stab,
Cold winter cacti with cones,
Defiant, lasting.
