Requiscat In Pace, Heath.

Ladies and gentleman, I have terrible news. Heath Ledger has been found dead in NYC.

Don't let your mind run away with you. He wasn't found in a gutter like Edgar Allan Poe or anything. Respectable news sources are not speculating about the cause of death, but that's why we have trashy blogs like TMZ, who are willing to dish on the dead as well as the living.

I'm was really shocked when I heard the news on NPR. He was only 28, and had really begun to diversify and show his range. He's become so versatile. I never knew what was coming next, and it was the best possible kind of anticipation. I was really looking forward to watching him in Dark Knight. I still am, but it'll be... different.

I've reveled in his progression as an actor. I loved him in 10 Things I Hate About You. It's actually the first DVD I ever bought. I really enjoyed the cheeky "period" style of A Knight's Tale. He blew my mind in Brokeback Mountain. After I saw him in that film I was totally in awe of him as an actor. I wanted more, and in different genres. I still want more. I'm... really not okay with him being dead.

So, in memory of Heath Ledger, I'm going to watch 10 Things I Hate About You. Wanna come? You should watch a Heath movie in it too, as an in memoriam. Which one are you putting in the player?

ETA: I have a full page of WTF HEATH posts on my f-list. :(
ETA2: TMZ had video footage of them removing his body. That's absolutely disgusting.
ETA3: I'm also really not okay with this "drug" coverage. It's just absolutely unacceptable to defame the dead.
ETA4: I really don't think he killed himself either. He was mid-filming, and I know he was troubled by his role as the Joker, but no.
ETA5: He had pneumonia, for fuck's sake! But no, it was totally just drugs. Ugh. Some days I hate journalists.

suck, movies, pour a sip on the concrete
