This month's issue of Wired is awesome.
I made The Cassie come over and look when I came upon the picture, by Kyle Cassidy, of Neil Gaiman. When worlds collide!
The internet primer had me laughing out loud; I can't wait until Pitt's new movie comes out. But, it was also pertinent; wish I could copy/paste it to 99% of the people I have to interact with online.
The part about the permanency of online data affecting our brain's fail-safe of forgetting (awkward, embarrassing, enraging) things was interesting; I do believe I will be taking shears to my "online" life in the coming weeks. Pruning is good for you.
Does holding on to so many memories cause us to become stale? If you always remember how awesome you were at some given point about something, are you never going to try to outdo that awesomeness? By holding a grudge over some stupid wankery from years past, hindering your future? Something to consider, at least. If we really needed to remember every single thing, wouldn't our brain have evolved to do just that by now?
Also read through the latest issue of The Atlantic. Had some really interesting points about property taxes and a piece of "privatization" of the seas that I agree with wholeheartedly. Thinking of extending my subscriptions to both of those; Wired is running a great deal at the moment anyways, 1 year for $10
So, to sum up,
dracowayfarer is awesome for gifting me Wired, and Wired and The Atlantic were spot-on this month.
