Ok guys,
Just wanted to give you all the same heads up at the same time. I just talked to my boss at Hitachi. My job is up on April 18th, I do not have anything "for sure" lined up. I'm in talks with another startup and my old internship is apparently not going to hire me on (they're hiring someone else, bummer!), still need to bug em about it but it's look pretty damn doubtful.
The game developer conference is next week, and I've already asked my boss if I can come in later (and work later) for the few days that it is so I will be going around to companies and joining the rest of the hundreds of other game developers looking for work. I do not know what my chances are but I have a lot of stuff under my belt so I think I'm ok. We'll see.
If I can't find employment by the end of May I'll be moving back home I guess? (If that's ok with you guys? I guess? I don't know.) I can probably float by until then at the max.
Things don't look so great out here as the unemployment rate in the area is very very bad. There are still jobs around but it's slim pickings and everyone I've been talking to has been a startup so far with all of their plans relying on them... "getting funding" which is very unlikely currently.
I don't really want to work some shit job and have to pay rent and my student loans with it. As I don't know how likely that is going to be (at minimum $900 a month, which is a lot on $10 an hour).
So I'll most likely be bumming at home with a crap job to pay my loans and working on my companys new project we're developing until we ship it. That's the backup plan anyway. And also to keep looking for stable employment.
Anyway, yes, that's the plan. :D. Feel free to call.
Love you all,
Tor
