Ahh, it's that time of year again. Anyone interested in flying over to Japan with me? I don't wanna go alone this year.
Summer Sonic 2006 - Aug. 12~13
- Summer Sonic '06 lineup.
- Why the fuck is Linkin Park headlining and not Tool?
- Why is Tool playing a smaller stage and not the Marine stage?
- Deftones and Muse are the only bands worth seeing on the main stage.
- I can try to imagine the singer from MCR is Billy Corgan.
- Summer Sonic 2007 will feature The Smashing Pumpkins (I will bet you money).
Fuji Rock Festival - Jul 28~30
- Fuji Rock Fest '06 lineup.
- Better overall lineup than Summer Sonic (as usual).
- Notables include Yeah Yeah Yeahs, ENVY, Ono Lisa, Denki Groove, Snow Patrol.
- I already saw Sonic Youth in a more intimate setting (930 Club).
- The mountainous setting is preferred over Makuhari.
- One more day of fun than Summer Sonic.
- Less Westerners to deal with (so I've heard).
Last year at Summer Sonic, a few Americans were being obnoxious during the Slipknot set. Yeah, you're guests so be polite to the Japanese... they're really really nice. Their expression after hearing me curse them out as they were whisked away by security... priceless. But the funny thing is, the same happened here apparently. A friend of mine went all the way to San Fran to see Hyde and some butch Japanese girl kept elbowing American girls near the front of the stage. Fans like to lay claim on their artists partly out of nationalism (they probably don't know it). But it's so true. W/e, it's only the minority.
Most of us are lovers, not fighters. I would choose sex over fighting any day.
