I had a chance to listen to Plastic Tree's latest work, $B%&%D%;%_(B. I've
been sorely disappointed in most of their work since $B%H%m%$%a%i%$(B and
unfortunately, it hasn't provided the kick I was expecting. The
expectation comes from their single, Replay, which totally made more
sense as part of an album. One of the elements that stood out was the
production value. It was less experimental in its use of dynamics so
prominent in their other albums. This one sounds more like a
commonplace rock album with clarity, kick, and in your face mixing. I
miss the messy sidechain limiters and extreme highs in the guitars;
values that made PT a "band apart". 4 out of 10 perhaps?
