Very interesting night last night... I popped into one of my local bars, Troika, to get the night started early... The owner, "Squid", has some pretty good taste in music, and the bar feels like something out of East Berlin. However, he's limited to really old stuff in his taste - Kraftwerk, Suicide, Skinny Puppy, Joy Division, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Anthony Rother, etc... And the crowd isnt goth enough to handle the hard stuff... But I thought I found a bridge between the nasty and somewhat nasty - Haujobb. So I bring in Vertical Theory and Solutions For A Small Planet and get him to pop them in the cd changer... Within 1 minute of Vertical Theory starting - customers start coming up to the bar asking what is playing, and really enjoying it...
Could this be the beginning? Do I need to resurrect a dj that's been long retired? Hmmm...
Goth/EBM/Industrial/Darkwave in Australia? Doesn't make sense does it? Who knows - maybe they just need education...
On a side note - a stroll down memory lane... The main tracks I listened to today:
Wumpscut: Crucified Divisions & Turns Off Pain
Deine Lakaien: Night Of Love
Haujobb: Eye Over You
Christian - my friend I know you're not reading this, but I know you're having a good time in the big apple. ;)
