Costume Progess!

Jan 29, 2008 01:27

I've been pretty busy as of late working on my costuming for the Changeling LARP. I figured I should post some pictures of the work I've done so far. Still in a bit of a rush to get it all done in time.

My original sketch of the costume:

Progress on the shirt (a bit old, at this point I have completed the leaves on the entire left arm). While it may not appear so in the picture, it is actually rather form fitting. So much so that in order to be able to put it on I had to put a zipper up the left side (Not too noticeable and the slider is covered by a leaf):

A later sketch I did of what I wanted to do with the boots (not present in the original sketches since I was undecided at the point on what direction I wanted to go with them):

Work so far on the boots. These were a real pain to do, in part because the slipper I used as a base was made of a fairly thick material and it was very difficult to do the hand sewing up in the toe area (and even worse when the thread got knotted). I just finished up the other boot to this degree last night.:

Over-all I'm very happy with how close the final product seems to be coming to the original design sketches. I still have a pair of pants and the wig to do. The wig is currently sticking point for me...quite literally, I have been unable to find a good adhesive for attaching the fake grass (plastic) to the latex bald cap. After trying rubber cement and another all-purpose craft glue, I think I'm going to go with a hot glue gun (assuming tests don't show that it melts the latex).

*Edited for further notes on the design.
