"What do you mean you’re pregnant?" asked Don, his heart pounding a bit faster as time sped up in his head.
"I’m mean what I said," said Truly gently, hesitating before leaning down a bit and looking Don in the eye. "Do you understand?"
"Yeah, I got it," muttered Don. "So, we’re..."
"I’m not asking anything from you," said Truly. "You know I wouldn’t ask things like that-"
"Then what are you asking?" asked Don.
"Just to think about it," said Truly. She scoffed suddenly and shook her head. "So much for comfort, right?"
"What are you talking about?" asked Don.
"The thing with my brother and Edderson," hinted Truly. Don nodded and ran his hand over his face, standing up carefully, making sure he didn’t faint or anything.
"Right," he muttered. "Right. Who else knows?"
"What makes you think someone else knows?" asked Truly, flushing slightly and looking at the floor.
"Because you suck at keeping secrets," stated Don, his tone turning slightly agitated. "I’ll guess Stell doesn’t know, because she’d hit me before you’d even got a chance to tell me, same with Aiden and Maka. I’m guess Danny or..." Don stopped and cocked his head to the side in thought, looking at Truly with realization in his eyes. "Hawkes."
"Yeah, he’s my very good best friend, and he knows," said Truly making Don flinch a bit.
"Hawkes and you are friends?"
"Yes we are and he doesn’t think badly of me for wanting to tell you myself so he didn’t tell you."
"I knew he knew something," muttered Don under his breath, shaking his head. Truly clapped her hands in front of Don’s face, startling him into looking at her.
"I’m gonna go, okay?" said Truly, dropping her hands to her sides and walking around Don’s desk towards the exit leaving Don staring after her.
"Son of a bitch."
