Bittersweet

Tonight was bittersweet, I'd say.
Bitter: The one patient that we expected to pass away on last Monday or maybe Tuesday held on until Friday. That's about a whole week of not eating or drinking or really responding in any other way. I don't know for sure, but she was probably in a good deal of pain. Then the guy patient I had last Monday passed away on Friday as well. It was a random death and quick too. That was sad because he was fine on Monday and he was a nice, funny guy. Apparently he bled a bunch when he died.
Sweet: Tonight, a lot of things were already done for me. My patients were already out in the dining room or the hallway, one of them is pretty independent and got herself ready for bed - 103 years old. Mona did the HS care for one of my other patients (my buddy) which I didn't expect because she said we wouldn't try getting her ready until like 8:30 at the earliest and she did that around 7. Next week is our last week, we're not assigned anyone, we just get to do whatever basically. Keep busy with things, yes, but whatever.

I am relieved that this class is almost done. I feel like I'll be more confident once I'm actually a CNA because I still feel like I don't have the authority to be making these patients do some things. I'll be kind of sad though to not be seeing everyone at the place and my classmates. Even if I still don't want to work in a nursing home, I got attached to some of the people there.

Wednesday is a big day - we have our last test before our final, presentations, extra credit papers are due, aaand probably something else I can't remember right now. Then the week after that, we have our final and a bunch of paperwork stuff to do. Sometime will be the state test to be certified - I don't know when.

There's a lot of pep band stuff this week - yay. Tonight I have little bits of homework here and there. Wednesday we have a little quiz in psychology.

Well, I'm going to go drink my tea to help me with this cold I'm getting (scratchy throat, slightly stuffed up nose), then I'll do some homework, then I'll go to bed.
