A Birfday Reflection

My interview went well, methinks. Basically, the most difficult question I was asked was "what is the most recent film you've seen at our theater?" soley because my answer was utterly humiliating...."ahem..er..thephantomoftheopera...cough."

Which leads me to my birthday. So Julia and Claire came by around three twenty and we trekked down to the movie theater to see said film (don't ask me why we wanted to see it - not a one of us could give you an answer, even if we wanted to do so). It was, of course, insanely melodramatic and cheesy and that damned girl who played christine didn't close her stupid mouth once, but I enoyed it immensely...anyway, so, due to the fact that i had been in the dark, absorbed by a world filled with ruffled shirts and maniacal organ music, the fact that it was my birthday was kind of tucked into the back of my mind. Julia told me that Makenna wanted to meet us somewhere for coffee, but we had to pick her up, so we headed over the river, stopping in this strange little area that I did not recognize as anywhere near makenna's house. I thought that perhaps Julia had fallen into a black ditch of sadism and had decided to make us walk to Makenna's (I am such an idiot.) We rounded a corner and Julia started walking into a restaurant, which baffled me - "b-but...Makenna doesn't live in a restaurant!" I spotted Josef first and immediately thought, "Oh my gentle Jesus, WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!!" Then i saw Phil and Hannah and Sarah and Makenna and things started to fall into place. "SUPRISE!" So, I was thrown a suprise party at this little Cuban place called "Pambiche" (which is by far my new favorite restaurant). Afterwards, we played a viscious game of Catchphrase, Brian and Phil and i went to Coffee Time for a couple of hours, bonded...and then I was coerced into getting a Fantasy Video Membership. okay, coerced isn't really the right word...perhaps accompanied should be thrown in there somewhere in its place. Anyway, that was quite the experience. It wasn't so much the overwhelming variety of dildos/rubber vaginas/porn in general that I found so flabberghasting...but the fact that they were playing good music. Damien Rice, Rufus Wainwright...all competing with Madonna's "Like a Virgin" that was also on. That was truly shocking. Anyway, that was my birthday. It was fairly mellow, but very nice. Very very very nice. And utterly completely and totally touching. I am desperately in love with my friends. So....
