Hey, it's been a few months, so it's time again for my "Saturn still sucks" message.

The transmission is bucking. Again. Right now this is a two-and-a-half-year-old car with only 24,000 miles on it. The transmission's never been quite right starting around the first half year of my ownership. It took nine years and 120,000 miles for my last car to start having transmission trouble. So last week I called Saturn service to make an appointment. They said I could come in July 17. I told them no way, it's my transmission. Well, in that case, I could bring it in on an emergency appointment and they'd squeeze me in.

I brought my car in yesterday morning. They still haven't even looked at it today. I am not happy. I'm not paying $300 a month to pay off the car plus $200 a month insurance so I can take Queens' decrepit and never-on-time bus service instead. The shop guys don't even call me to give me any idea of what's going on; I have to call them to find out that they haven't looked at my car yet.

Why are they this packed with work? Are local Saturns really that badly made?

Maybe not every service place Saturn has isn't like my local one, but, you know, right now I'd really like to put the whole company out of business.

Once I start to feel better enough to go out searching, I'm looking for a new car.

car, saturn
