The alternatives

I don't know what is up with the Maspeth, Queens public library's CD selection, but among its contents is the Pixies, the Pogues, Porno for Pyros, Cowboy Junkies, Jane's Addiction, Psychedelic Furs, various Pearl Jam albums, various Stone Temple Pilots albums, Hole, the Sisters of Mercy's Floodland, the Cure's Wish (30th anniversary deluxe edition), the Singles soundtrack, and some early “Weird Al” Yankovic albums and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story soundtrack. These are just the ones I remember. It's not just that I have some lost sibling out there, but that so many selections of these vintages haven't been cycled out for newer, more mainstream artists.

I had a nagging conundrum that was solved for me today. There was a pair of boots in a local shoe store window that I simultaneously thought were so cool but also too gaudy, so my brain was fighting itself. (Part of me never left the '80s. Also, this is a serious shoe store so these are not cheap boots.) But then I saw that the back of the right boot and the back of the left are two different colors and it was over for me. I just cannot. Why is the back of the left boot silver?

Unless they're meant to be two different colors you can get the boots in instead of a pair? Online research suggests that may be the case. Still confusing to me to display them like this. (They also seem to come in red.)
