I wish a happy Easter and a kosher and joyous Passover to my readers.
I didn't remember today was Good Friday. So, my drive west back home from Long Island was terrible. My iPhone Map directions eventually directed me off the highways and onto small side streets. But, hey, it took me through some pretty parts of Forest Hills.
The magnolias in my neighborhood budded, then the buds promptly turned dark brown and died. I have no idea why. Here we've mainly had flowering cherry trees, though yesterday's rain took a lot of petals off, and the pretty masses of white flowers of blooming pear trees... that smell like tuna gone off. (Some people think these flowers smell more like semen.) Thus, spring in parts of New York City and Long Island smells somewhat fishy.

I'm not the only one who sees this, right? I mean, on this cover Robin is Batman's brandished dick.

Another CVS plushie, the Easter lion bunny.
Shark Easter baskets at Target. Nice idea but I'm not thrilled about the execution. Check out the teeth in the larger version of the photo.

ride_4ever, I don't know if you're still interested, but listening to this song in my car today made me remember this really small thing about "
Nevermore." When Ray and Ray are getting ready to go out dancing, Ray Walker sings a bit of
"Punk Lolita" by the Heads with Debbie Harry, Johnette Napolitano, and Tina Weymouth, and you know what happens when she goes to Ray's apartment later and Fraser sees her. "Punk Lolita" is partly about 1970s CBGB's in New York City, and the Ramones belong to that era and scene, so Ray and Ray are singing "I Wanna Be Sedated" as they open the door.
(The Heads are the members of Talking Heads minus David Byrne. The Talking Heads performed at CBGB's in the 1970s too.)
