A few people have asked so: I am safe and well in New York after Ida. Living on the third floor of a building atop a tall hill has some advantages and I decided to stay home last night, partly out of knowing my head/physical health would be impacted just by the barometric stuff going on. Today I drove through some areas of Queens that were badly hit, heard about some deaths, and watched footage of drowned neighborhoods and massive waterfalls in the subway system. Last week I'd dropped off two winter coats at an olde neighborhood dry cleaners to get buttons sewn back on; when I came back today the place was closed at first because the proprietor was cleaning up his flooded basement.
