seedarklyxero's Sunday post about
David Bowie's "I'm Afraid of Americans" brought back such memories of that time in the '90s when Bowie was doing industrial music, sometimes with or adjacent to Trent Rezner. *
And wtf was up with
the Showgirls soundtrack anyway? How did that movie end up using so much goth and industrial music I like?
The Sisters of Mercy's "Vision Thing" even showed up in the movie, even though it didn't make the album.

(Unfortunately, I also inescapably associate that with the massive physical damage I took trying to see a concert from his tour with Nine Inch Nails. My family and I will forever wonder if my Chiari I malformation wouldn't have smote me as hard and permanently as it has if I hadn't gotten bashed around so hard when at least twenty people fell on top of me and punched, kicked, and crushed my head and neck against the floor of the pit that night. The worst of the nerve damage was on the right side of my head, as a result of some panicked someone continuously kicking me hard under my jaw. The worst of the weight was on my head, grinding me into the floor. [I may have been born with some neuroskeletal issues, but some people never become symptomatic or bad enough to go on disability.] We'll never know.
(I sometimes wonder if I did someone some damage when I kicked and punched my way out from under the screaming, flailing pile so I wouldn't die under the literal crush of them. But I'm truly convinced I wouldn't have survived if I hadn't fought and crawled so hard.
(It still annoys me that I was taken out by the mob before I even got to see much of the show.)
