At Last

For once I liked a trendy ice cream I bought on sale at the supermarket. While I wasn't at all impressed with the other Coolhaus flavor I tried, Dirty Mint Chip, I really enjoyed Campfire S'Mores, which the carton lists as "salted Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, graham marshmallow cookie butter, and dark chocolate squares," which sounds a bit weird (salty vanilla?) but I found delicious, not salty or too sweet at all.

I happily made it through June just using a fan, but the temperature rose to about 99 °F/37 °C this weekend so I wouldn't have survived if I hadn't opened up the wall and enabled my air conditioner. I'm not dealing well even with the air conditioner. Sadly, most of the rest of the week will be in this range.

Thinking about recent revelations in 12 Monkeys, I'm less enthused by Cole being Jones' grandson. It's rather rare to see a younger man with older woman relationship of mutual respect and a kind of platonic love based off their experiences together in media, and their revealed blood relationship kind of stomps on that.

I'm happy to hear that renovations will be starting on the New York State Pavilion's observation towers in the supposed near future, though given the history of how long the site has been allowed to decay I'm somewhat skeptical. Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, you saw a somewhat reconfigured and reimagined version of the NYSP in Iron Man 2.

I've received some belated birthday gifts--there were scheduling issues--though I haven't listened to A Perfect Circle's Eat the Elephant, Depeche Mode's Sounds of the Universe, and Nine Inch Nails' Not the Actual Events enough yet to have a final opinion on them.

Sounds of the Universe has several songs that work very well for Schuldig, and I have to say I've never heard David Gahan sound so much like Simon Le Bon as he does on "Perfect."
