I'm working my way through October's shots, this time putting up a Bergdorf window display series featuring some odd sculptures as well as some photos of an afternoon out in Manhattan, most of them taken on the High Line, which is now a completed park/line and a lot lusher than the last time I saw it years ago. It's an elevated freight rail line transformed into a free, public park on Manhattan's West Side that runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th and 12th Avenues. They even left some of the original railway tracks and weed plants on a part of the northernmost end of the line; I'd complained on my first visit that they'd torn out all the wildness and train tracks. I heard about five different languages spoken by visitors there, which sounded even weirder when they peppered it with the English names of some of the art pieces on display. (I found the majority of the art groan-worthy.) I'd say that the High Line is definitely worth a visit for its unusual views of the west end of Manhattan and the novelty of walking through parkland about a story above city streets. I also have some shots of a CVS situated in a grand former bank on 14th Street.

You can find my 26 new photos at my Flickr account and my deviantArt. Here are two LJ-only ones:
