Appreciation for The Arts

I nearly killed myself doing it, but I finally posted a ton of Bergdorf Goodman Christmas window display photos to my Flickr account and my deviantArt. A ton. I think maybe nearly 90 photos? It took me hours.

I found last year's Bergdorf Goodman main Christmas series, Holidays on Ice, disappointing, partly from how few of them did the "jam-packed with small cool details" thing I love a Bergdorf holiday series for; only Holidays on Ice: Valentine's Day had been a traditional BG wonder-rama. This year, Bergdorf was back to form with The Arts. For example, The Arts: Literature was stuffed with renditions of famous authors--and not just white guys--done in fabric, embroidery, and felt. (I don't know why they decided to do all of The Arts: Literature in fabric, embroidery, felt, and fabric dolls, but I appreciate the results.) The Arts: Architecture was full of paper art. The Arts: Painting... I can't describe everything in that display. Even the mannequins in The Arts: Film are made up to look like they're in a black & white movie.

It was really difficult to shoot The Arts: Literature. Fortunately, my iPhone's camera picks up a lot without a flash, because with a flash the window looks like this:

As an example of how packed with little details the windows are, you wouldn't even see this if you didn't get right up to the glass and look upward into The Arts: Painting:

Another example, here's a tiny mouse artist in The Arts: Painting, reminding me of the artist animals in The Seasons: Winter many years ago:

These shoes echo the dress and the blueprints in The Arts: Architecture:

These designer shoes I just thought were cool. Jimmy Choo:

Louboutin:

Here's a closer look at clothing items I found interesting:

I also got some nice shots from Bergdorf Goodman's side windows series, Inspired Gifts.
