A Palette Changer

Stores' design crews tend to take a breather from the big Christmas/holiday display work by going simpler in January. Bergdorf Goodman used vintage books for its Fifth Avenue windows, though the notation that the books can be bought through BG's "Decorative Home" department makes me wonder if anyone is expected to read any of them, which is a shame since some of them look fun. Their Chinese New Year "Year of the Horse" windows are cool in person but the lighting is 97% dark red, which made the images in the three windows come off looking like smears in my shots. I posted what little I could shoot using the 3%. Dior has a bit of a motorcycle theme--just without actual motorcycles--while Chanel is still using the (too) simple setup it had for the holidays. Bloomindale's had its windows shrouded.

You can see Bergdorf Goodman and Dior windows and a single Chanel window up at my Flickr account and my deviantArt. Here are some photos just for here:

This dress by Mary Katrantzou achieves a 3D effect (when seen in person) from having the same print on the filmy outer layer and solid under layer.
Sergio Rossi butterfly shoes, also at Bergdorf Goodman, 1/2014.

The I. Miller Building is back! And so are the statues. I shot this at night in the rain with the only light coming from the flashing billboards of Times Square, so I definitely have to return some day for a better look.
