A few days ago State Farm sent me a check for several hundred dollars, and although they didn't tell me in advance that they'd send it I figured that since they had they must have meant me to have it so I deposited it in my check account. State Farm called today to tell me that they meant to mail it to the auto body shop instead and that now I have to get the money to the shop.
Of course, the shop guy has to actually answer the phone or call me back now, but at least he has more reason to get back to me on getting my car looked at for the clunking in the passenger-side front tire when I drive over rough road. We've been dancing around for over a week.
I had two days to get used to the idea of having an additional few hundred dollars. Thanks for the cruel tease, State Farm.
ETA: Auto body shop guy was finally there, so I brought my car and State Farm's mis-sent money in. He confirms that the sound system thing was from the new battery and now I just have to adjust the sound more on my own. He says the clunk on the passenger side front is a strut issue, something that can wait a bit until I'm ready to pay for it, and that his estimate for replacing both front struts, plates, and labor would be about $350. I'm not sure if I could ask my usual mechanic for a second opinion. I'm also wondering if this strut thing was really something that couldn't be seen while he evaluated my car after the accident.
