The State of Blogs

I'm still not getting LJ notifications and lately Schu's account isn't either. It's been a few weeks for me now. LJ has yet to answer me on the why.

(I'm staying put on LJ because Dreamwidth formats' fonts and backgrounds stab my eyes, while the information of what I do read sometimes falls right out of my brain. Also, my Semagic program [that makes composing and posting entries 100 times easier] doesn't post to DW with all the amenities it has for LJ, I wouldn't have Scrapbook, and I'd have to pay to get anywhere near the icons I have now. And all those people who feel I can just torture myself for hours looking again for a DW format that doesn't hurt me can bite me. I've tried. I'm not staying put because I want to hold fandom back, which I've read in some people's entries.)

But I'm not alone in being disrespected over my visual problems. Some people are getting migraines from LJ's new comment pages, and some responses to them by other LJ users in the official LJ comms have been so ableist: dim your monitor, dim your room, take an aspirin, change your eyeglass prescription, get off the internet. None of those things should be the slightest bit necessary, especially since the comment pages used to be fine, and why should they have to go through so much trouble just for one site? (btw, I already dim my monitor.)

So LJ gave us a ton of wank as a holiday present, the gift that keeps giving. We thought they only had enough wank to burn for one night but then it lasted for eight! Then it went on to last for weeks! Truly a divine miracle. Ain't it grand?

Their New Year's gift can be fixing all this mess. A new start for a new year! (By going back to old things that worked.) Which would be awesome but unlikely.
