First Lines
Post the first lines from your last 20 stories. Do you see any patterns? (I'm counting the first lines of the parts of "Glass Houses" too.)
1. After breakfast ended, Farfarello offered to let Aya participate in the torture, whether as a joke or because Farfarello thought Aya might have changed his mind Aya didn't know.
2. Although Aya figured that the members of Weiß thought him to be a total innocent in such matters, he’d actually had a few dates before joining the team, female and male, although they’d tended toward male more and more the longer Aya-chan was in a coma.
3. Schuldig never felt more alive and self-aware than when multiple people were trying to kill him at once.
4. Too hungry to wait, Schuldig started breakfast off with a bun and a cup of banana juice while Nagi cooked sausage.
5. "Are we going to wait for Aya to come back to start the torture?" Nagi asked.
6. Goku woke to the sound of gentle rain and some kind of... something noise that vibrated in the air, too deep to be the high tones of wind chimes.
7. Times like this Yozak felt thankful that he had his own ways in that didn’t raise questions and that certain members of Lord von Voltaire’s staff practiced professional blindness.
8. When Aya awoke, he felt Farfarello plastered, hard, against his back and adding more heat by breathing against the back of Aya's neck, which raised the fine hairs there and made him shiver.
9. Riding in the jeep shouldn’t be this quiet; the silence gave him too much time to think.
10. Getting held back from actually doing anything to Scry had left Farfarello grumpy, unfulfilled, and bursting with tension.
11. Today sucked.
12. As Crawford watched Nagi prepare the sedative and lay out a set of headphones with earpieces large enough to cover the whole ear to block out outside sound and a blindfold, he heard Scry let out a muzzy little sound.
13. I’d made such a mess of the targets that I had trouble finding a clean spot to crouch in but once I had it I settled in and looked at Mr. Wright’s dead face and staring eyes.
14. Aya swept up more broken glass and a bloodied feather from his pillow.
15. "This is it?" Aya asked.
16. "What was this about changing our plan?" Nagi asked.
17. This should be easier, but when had life been easy?
18. "Make a left here," Fenris said.
19. “We’ve been getting some really odd looks since we’ve arrived,” Abel said softly.
20. Aya saw a big blue and white plastic cooler sitting in their hotel room. "What's this for?"
Adding the parts of GH in tilts my first lines in a Weiß Kreuz and torture direction *g*, but otherwise I don't really see a common theme. Do you?
