My neurosurgery office canceled today's appointment as well, due to him needing to do emergency surgery again. It seems that the office called my cell phone at 9 a.m. but for some reason it didn't ring. Since it didn't ring the whole time I had it with me I didn't think I'd need to check for messages, which is why I did a 45-minute commute to his office to find out that all of today's patients had been canceled.

I called from the office to find that out and also that my disability forms still aren't ready to be sent to HR. The secretary, Millie, who sounded really angry, became angrier when I said that I really needed to see the doctor for continuing pain and new dizziness as well as to find out whether I should still be on Flexeril or Tegretol, both of which are very strong medications and one of which might be responsible for the dizziness. She said the doctor would call me, and she hung up on me before I could ask if I should get a new appointment as well.

I understand that he's a surgeon and emergency surgeries can happen, but this is two weeks in a row and I still haven't received resolution on questions about these medications and the pain I've been trying to get answers on since January 6. He doesn't return any of my phone messages, and now I can't trust appointments.

Do other neurosurgery offices have some kind of backup doctor who can give qualified advice in his absence? I know that both times I was in the hospital recently I would sometimes get a small team of neurosurgeons who would stand around my bed as one asked questions, probably with every one of them billing my insurance for this precious standing-around-me time.

I'm going to wait until tomorrow afternoon for the doctor to call me, then call them and ask what now.
