bellybalt just said something about cool LJ children (including my own) that made me remember a hilarious conversation I overheard at Sequoia's ballet class this week.
It was one of those that made me realize my kid is in for some serious wake up calls (when she figures out that not every child she meets has a liberal music junkie for a mom or quizzes their children on album titles and artist names).
This was her convo with her new best friend Sunny:
Sequoia: Hey Sunny...have you heard this song called "Paper Bag" by Fiona Apple? There is a really funny part I make my mom sing where she is talking about 'everything being in your head.'
Sunny: Uh....No.
Sequoia: Oh really? Do you know who Fiona Apple is?
Sunny: Ummm (looks confused) maybe?
Sequoia: How about Tool? Do you know who Tool is? What about Arcade Fire? Did you know they have a bunch of songs all called "In the Neighborhood?"
Sunny: Look they have Halloween candy on the counter (desperately trying to change subject)!
