every day i walk past strand book store and want to go in, but rush by in attempt to catch my train. this place is seriously two blocks from work and i can't believe it took me this long to finally go in. it was amazing. it was a really nice experience. i was completely overwhelmed- the amount of books i'm sure is countless, and although the store was organized by category, it didn't seem to be organized by much else. books everywhere. i had to walk slowly through the store, as my feeling of being overwhelmed did not subside. and, much to my surprise, the store was practically an entire block... it just kept going. i loved it. i got to buy a lot of books that i'm excited about. i also feel like this is a great place to spend time. the music being played was old and classical, and as i found myself peering down some old fashion hallway through hidden glass doors, i couldn't help but feel like i was in a movie. i should have spent more time there.. it was really wonderful. but my arms were hurting from all the books i was carrying. even though the clutter made me uneasy, the atmosphere of the store relaxed me. i should go here more often.
