So I just got back from Lennon the MUSICAL!! Oh man it was awesome! Aww, I miss being in musical theatre. Don't know when/where I'll have an opportunity to experience that again though. The cast was incredible, such dynamic singers, great acting. It was so creative too. There weren't many props. No set changes at all. Just used a circle shaped platform and a white grand piano. They had screens in the background that had old footage of protests at the time, pictures of John and Yoko. The remakes of his songs were just beautiful. Even from the 4th row of the blacony, I was still getting the expression.
I have to say, some parts dragged just a LITTLE. Maybe it's because i couldn't hear the dialoge too well from where I was. I think they could have enunciated even more. Especially with the British accents...The dialogue in a musical like this is very important. All in all, it was just fun, colorful, historically accurate as far as I know, and touching. They showed an actual video of John at the end singing Imagine and I shed a couple tears for that. At the end of the song, some random guy in the audience screamed, "THANK YOU JOHN!!!" lol It was awesome.
My favorite song in the whole musical was "give peace a chance". I just wanted to get up and dance and protest and sing to the world for peace. There were some witty jokes, but some I didn't understand as much as the older generation that was there. Most of it was like a rock concert! It was interesting to hera womens' voices set to his music.
Well, afterwards we all went to Denny's, and now we're back and I'm soooooooo tired. I gotta write about the women's conference too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh man, I've been blessed!! Sooo glad I went to it. I was hestitant at first and scared because it was new and so many different faces. I will have to dedicate an entire entry to that though. I will do that soon. I'm going to bed now. Hope everyone's having a great weekend! Late!
