As far as I'm concerned, Peter's taking an offering with one hand, then shoving away the person who gave it because he's "above" that kind of thing with the other. If his tender sensibilities are that offended by how he got off, he should have turned himself in. He wants to be free, but he wants Neal to know he's better than what it took to get him off. And he's shown a complete lack of empathy for Neal's position; it's all about his wounded honor.

There comes a point when someone's overcompensation, venting of frustrations, and lack of coping simply add up to a giant pile of shit behavior. I have no sympathy for what I just watched. None.

This was Peter's career and life on the line. Neal did what he had to do. It sucked. It was a bad situation with nothing but bad choices to be made. And Neal was right -- this was the right thing to do. The alternative was unthinkable. If Peter had a better idea at the time, it would have been nice for him to share it with the rest of the class, because from where I was sitting, it was looking like indictment, conviction, and then the average shelf life of a law enforcement officer in prison.

I'm not surprised Rebecca turned out to be evil. But I'm on the other side of the fence -- I'm relieved, because it saves the character for me. I found her phony and awkward as hell, and didn't see any sparks between her and Neal, so this makes that feel like an understandably ill-fitting mask, as opposed to the actress just doing a terrible job with the role. It takes the performance from limping to brilliant for me.

I didn't say Peter looks like a saint or anything. He's being an asshole. But I understand his actions, just like I understand Neal's. I have more empathy for Peter right now, because I think he's really struggling to define who he is. He's shut everyone out --- he's even been shutting El out to a certain extent, and it's painful to watch.

As for Rebecca....I didn't want her to be Neal's romance of a lifetime. I just wish that the writers would give Neal a break. I want him to get a chance to be a little happy.

It *is* getting to the point with Neal that the Blue Sky approach is becoming somewhat delusional. I know JE has described the character as an eternal optimist, but at this point I think most people would have either developed a substance abuse problem or opened a wrist. Good lord.

Honestly, if I were Mozzie and El, I'd be worried to death about both guys.
