Rarely do my casting wishes for my shows come so gloriously true. My outlook for the new season of White Collar just improved substantially.

He plays this part that's just evil, and hilarious, and charismatic. He's a blast to watch, but he's dangerous, and he's ultimately always on his own side, so there's that chaotic, "is he going to be ally or enemy" thing always present with him

Well that sounds awesome, and yeah, completely what we need from a baddie in WC. Less comic book, but still humourous/charming and with the ability to actually, y'know, bring the menace. I honestly never gave his character a second thought, but it'll be great to get that kind of throw back to the Pilot and bring things full circle, too. Also, it seems like this kind of deal with a guy like Hagen will genuinely pull Neal right back towards the grey area of things and be a fabulous opportunity to explore his own personal brand of morality/concept of the law, which would make my day because Neal's been such a Boy Scout recently. I think Neal's at his best (and most dangerous/focused) when he skirting the law or someone he care about is in danger, and with Peter arrested and Hagen pulling his strings.... yeah, that could be pretty fun if they really go for it. Hopefully S5 will bring the show back on track.

ETA. Oh, and didn't Neal and Hagen have history pre the Pilot ep because Neal had ripped him off at some point? That would make it all the more interesting, I think.
