New year, new job, new socks.

Hi everyone! I hope your new year's was a safe and fun one, because I know mine was. This year was one of my best new year's eves I can remember, since I was at a huge party, and getting paid at the same time. I don't know who I have and haven't told, but I started my new job at Holiday Inn a few weeks ago, and they asked me when I was hired if I could work New Year's Eve since they had a party that night. I said yes, not knowing exactly what a "party" to them was.

Well, it turns out that the Holiday Inn in Normal's New Years party is the biggest one in town, and central Illinois for that matter. When I first arrived at 3 PM, the radio station had already set up in the atrium, and it looked like a fuckin concert was going on. 20 ft high speaker stacks and a few dozen lighting rigs along with the DJ booth was sitting in the back of the atrium, along with the bar. The Grand Ballroom had been cleared and set up with a stage for two live bands to play on, and a dinner buffet and another bar (it is new years). As for the sports bar itself? Doors propped open, and two extra big-screen TV had been wheeled in there.

"So, every room is booked, and we sold some tickets."

This is the exact words of my manager when I arrived and asked how many people were gonna show up. Turns out "some" is equivelent to 2,000! There were over 2,000 people partying, drinking, and whatever-ing from 8 PM til 2 AM, and I was there the whole time, answering phones, havin a few drinks on my boss, and helping check IDs and give out wristbands. Then, at 2, the music stopped, and everyone stumbled to their rooms. I ended up getting home aboot quarter to 3 in the morn, but didn't mind. It was a great time, and a good example on how to run a large party. I hope we do more functions like that, because it's the most fun I've had working that I can remember (other than that time I got laid in the Wards stockroom, but that's another story).

Oh, and by the way, World of Warcraft still owns me. Peace!
