Reasons why I try not to watch Congress in session, ever. I understand the desire for Congressional transparency, but the result is that everyone comes off as even more idiotic than they really are.
On the bright side, at least I'm confident that Obama knew what he was doing with this nomination. And that right now he's suffering along with us. And that we're almost certainly going to end up with a new justice who's going to be the role model for little girls that Ruth Bader Ginsberg was/is for me. (Words do not describe how happy this makes me. Mostly this proves that I'm a major-league dork, but screw that. I LOVE GINSBERG DAMMIT.)
It honestly makes me wonder how our government manages to function at all, and then I have to remind myself that, for every elected official in Congress, there's a large staff composed of usually very intelligent and dedicated individuals who, thankfully, don't believe that carbon dioxide is a pollutant because, hey, it's in your soda! *facepalm*
(Congressional staff are pretty amazing, aren't they? They come in armies. I just wish that they came with a large supply of duct tape and with the authority to smack it over their boss's mouths when necessary.)
