Not gonna lie, seeing Vae Victis recced on crack_van more or less made my day. :">

So, it is a Friday night on a university campus. Seeing as there is an exclusive party for the College Democrats leadership board (of which I am somehow a member) tomorrow night, tonight is going to be devoted to finishing femgenficathon and at least starting dh_exchange. Both of which are due in ( Read more... )

Woe, I still have not had time to read "Vae Victis", and for that I apologise. I am the worst person on the planet, pretty much, but I've had it tabbed in my browser ever since it was posted and want to give it the attention it deserves. Fuck this social life thing. D:

In history class we're finally taking a glimpse into the American political system, and seriously, how do you get by with having only two main political parties?!

*squish* That's all right -- I'm an awful hypocrite and hardly ever read fics that long.

asldfjklasdf RITA DO NOT MENTION SUCH OBVIOUS IMPERFECTIONS IN MY POLITICAL SYSTEM OR I WILL RUPTURE A BLOOD VESSEL. OR TWO. Because I, being somewhat more independently minded than my fellow citizens, cannot get by. I have become less fond of both the Republicans and the Democrats as I've grown older, although my natural sympathies will always lie with the latter, and every election -- and I can vote now, damn it -- turns into a matter of selecting the lesser of two evils.

Why this country cannot implement a system of proportional representation, I will never understand.

Oh I will get to it, you just wait. :p But first I have to research Hume and Heidegger and prepare for my first IB French oral. ARGH SCHOOL. Cannot wait until I am studying things I actually love, like you are (hopefully?).

HEE. I OBVIOUSLY HAVE THE SUPERIOR POLITICAL SYSTEM. (Which is arguable -- because we do have more choice re. political parties but once a party is voted into majority said party wields far more centralised power than does a party in the US ... among other things ...) Like you, I would definitely vote Democrat, but it seems to me that Democrats and Republicans are mostly the same -- one likes business a little more, one likes human rights, that's about it. Oh, politics.

o.O

But -- but Hume and Heidegger sound interesting! Granted, I know very little about both (Hume was a Scottish (?) thinker during the Enlightenment, and erm, Heidegger was something more modern?), but I do have to take another philosophy course in order to fulfill my core requirements in that area. That is for next year, however. No, I would say that you do -- a party in the U.S. can consolidate quite a bit of power for itself too. See: Republicans in the 2004 elections -- presidency captured, House & Senate captured, and indirectly, the judicial branch as well. Although, hopefully, this will never happen again. x ( ... )

Yay, reccage! That is most deserved.

Woe, femgen. I am beginning to think this may not happen - I wrote something terribly dreary a while back that just isn't going anywhere, and no new ideas are forthcoming. Alas. Besides, I've got shiny holiday exchange stuff starting to come through I'd much rather get started on! *is so, so fickle*
