Going West
One day Kame wakes up and the sky is red. Nakamaru's sitting next to him, a book in his hands.
“Why is the sky red?” Kame asks Nakamaru.
“Because it's bleeding,” Nakamaru says. “We've cut open the ozone, and now it's bleeding.”
Kame rolls his eyes, because Nakamaru never knows what he's talking about, and turns. Koki and Ueda are sitting on that side, staring up at the sky.
“Why is the sky red?” Kame asks them.
“Because it's cool,” Koki says while Ueda rolls his eyes and says something about wavelengths of light reflecting off of molecules.
Finally, Kame turns to Taguchi, who's sitting strangely quiet at the side. “Why is the sky red?” he asks.
Taguchi looks at him, and then grins. “Be happy, Kame-chan!” he exclaims. “Akanishi's gone west.”
That's when Kame remembers that Akanishi's been dead since February.
End.
So... there's actually a pun in here. 赤西 is red-west literally. In Chinese culture, going west is what you do when you're dead. Akanishi went to the "west" in the sense that he went to the US. Traditionally, the dead go to the sky in most western cultural media I've seen, be it heaven or just turning into stars or whatnot. THEREFORE... the sky turns red.
this is why I don't make puns
