Chemistry is your friend.
Don't believe me? Let me show you. Follow these simple steps and I promise you a ficlet*. Not just a paragraph or a bit of dialogue, but a ficlet, potentially a one-shot, potentially a chaptered fic that I will never finish so you will never see.
1. Give me a chemistry concept. This can be anything from "aldol condensation reactions" to "electronegativity."
1a. No repeating concepts.
1b. When in doubt, consult wikipedia.
2. Give me a fandom/pairing/character. Please choose a fandom that I have either written for, or is in my interests. I do reserve the right to ask you to switch your fandom from one that I am merely interested in to something that I have already written, so you're best off picking a fandom that I have written for. Pairings and character requests optional. fandoms are also optional, but then you run the risk of getting a fandom you hate.
3. Extra stuff! Here is where you ask for anything else. For example, do you want ambiguity? You can put ambiguity here. Do you want aesthetic horror? Request aesthetic horror! Want massive character death? Sure. Want a specific genre? Sucks to be you, you're getting a dystopia whether you like it or not Request away! (No really, as much as I would like to write a dystopia for you, I understand that some people do not share my love for them)
4. Post your prompt here in the comments and I'll write you a ficlet.
5. Wait patiently for me to figure out how to write a story illustrating this chemistry concept. This may take a while.
I reserve the right to close this meme at any time. I reserve the right to not write your request.
link away, lurkers and stalkers and friends. The more chemistry is shared, the better the world is!
*ficlet refers to a story that has a coherent idea instead of merely a collection of dialogue. Ficlets can range from 0 words to an infinite number of words. A ficlet does not guarantee any specific length.
This meme clearly has nothing to do with the fact that I need practice illustrating chemistry concepts in fiction for my chemical education research project. Or maybe it does. Who knows?
