Some random thoughts when I really should be doing the schoolwork I've been dodging all effing week.
I picked up the first few graphic novels of Death Note, half on a whim and half because I've seen it mentioned a couple of times on my flist. Before this, the only manga I was really keeping up with was Prince Of Tennis. I enjoy some PoT, I do. Much to my own surprise. I don't know anything about tennis really and I thought that sports manga would be dull, but it's not. It's a bit confusing, and yet another example of the long-ass-time to complete a single match thing, meanwhile time jumps so fast between that it's nothing but tennis. Understandable, of course, but still.
Death Note is much much better. Fast paced, a battle of wits, dubious rationalizations, all the best stuff. The attention to detail of both L and Light is mindboggling. Very fun. I've got the 3rd and 4th, just staring at me.
I haven't read them yet because I keep telling myself that I have to do my work first. That's why I'm making an LJ post instead of working. This is how I screw myself over. I find a million things to distract myself, but having no distractions doesn't really work either.
So needless to say I haven't gotten any writing done lately either. I hate that part.
On the plus side, I am still smoke free. Today was the toughest so far, because my saturdays at home were usually spent chainsmoking. Thought about going after my 'smoking alternative' but decided against it. The tequila last night was quite enough, thnx.
Well, back to less focused slacking. Woe.
