Woo! I like teal. <3 Also all the random icons are now cute things like cupcakes. /randomness
I, uh...still haven't done my giftfics yet. ~_~ I started the one I was writing for Eilia, but it was complete and utter crap, all wooden dialogue and telling-not-showing. I feel really really rusty. =/ I also haven't done my Zodiac icons or my East-meets-West essay, but the second has me kind of nervous anyways, since we have so many actual eastern-hemisphere-type people in ffland - what if I say something that's completely and totally wrong!? Obviously the world will end. xD
This week has been absolutely great, though. Very nice to have some time to myself. ^^ And Aaron's settling into his new job fairly well - it's all office work: making phone calls and data entry, two things that he has more than enough experience with. The hours are a little rough on him (starts at 7am, when he's more nocturnal than I am, normally, and that's saying something) but other than that, it's pretty good. ^^
I think I have a cavity in one of my canines. =| No real surprise, since I have the most godawful weak enamel, but still irritating. Hopefully once Aaron's insurance kicks in, we can go have it filled so it stops bothering me.
Also, my dad randomly quit his job last week! O_o He's been an independent truck driver for yeeears, but he up and sold his truck and got a job driving for someone else. And my mom's finally decided to quit her crappy factory job that had her laid off for 21 of the past 24 months. I'm really glad - there was always so much drama at her work, and it put a lot of strain on her neck and shoulders. She's 57, so I worry about her doing things that hurt her.
Class starts next Tuesday, and I'm actually sort of excited? Maybe? I'm taking two online classes (Creative Writing: Poetry and American Lit I), one half-online World History class, one normal literature + public affairs BS class, annnnd...PE. lol. Should be REALLY easy, since there are two first-year and two second-year classes, as opposed to the multiple graduate-level classes I took last semester...lol.
I wanna do that fandom meme that Vanja posted up, but I don't remember all the things I did in 2011! =| Stupid crappy memory. I honestly think the only new game I played was Skyward Sword, and I finally finished DAII. I...don't think there was anything else? Star Wars: The Old Republic doesn't really count, I think, since I haven't even beaten ONE of the eight storylines...
OH WAIT.
SONG OF ICE AND FIRE. How'd I forget that?
So, yeah, my list includes books and TV, also.
First Fandom of 2011
Uh...DAII, I guess? Even though I didn't beat it until months later and didn't like it all that much anyways. I assume they mean first new fandom, otherwise it was probably the tail-end of my FFXIII-love. Or maybe The Vampire Diaries. I don't remember.
Favorite Main Character of 2011
Daenerys Targaryen, hands down. I loooove her. Broken young girl who gets married off to a barbarian lord, adapts and actually makes said barbarian lord treat her better rather than just give up, survives the loss of...basically everything ever, acquires dragon babies, and goes on to be a conquering, slave-freeing queen using only her wits, her dragons, and a few trusted advisers? Just...yes. She's amazing. I wish her acting in the show wasn't quite so wooden, though.
Favorite Villain of 2011
This classy motherfucker right here. I have the world's biggest weak spot for villains with flair and a sense of style, and Ghirahim has it in SPADES. Best and most fabulous villain since Kuja. Also helps that he's COMPLETELY NUTS. Cracks me up every time he shows up on the screen. <3 That being said,
The Imprisoned gives me the willies. I think it's the gooshy toes. Blegh.
Favorite [insert medium here] of 2011
Game: Skyward Swoooord. <3 Hands down, no contest, I love this game.
Book: A Song of Ice and Fire (yes, I know it's five books, but I read them all back-to-back, so I can't pick.)
TV Series: The Vampire Diaries and Game of Thrones, which are incidentally my second and third favorite shows of all time, after Firefly. Last year was a good year for TV.
Though really, if we're getting right down to it, my big fandoms of 2011 were actually Legend of Dragoon, Final Fantasy VIII, and Persona 3, as far as fanwork production and intake go. Or maybe just tumblr. I'm a tumblr addict now.
Game I'm looking forward to the most? Mass Effect III, most likely. Maybe Persona 4: The Golden, depending on how things shake out. I want a Vita. <3 They're shiny.
Also, award for best fandom goes to ffland, because you are ALL FABULOUS AND I LOVE YOU ALL. Second place to LoD, since there are approximately seven of us. We ran character askblogs and things. It was fun.
