Name: Mammon
Fandom: "Katekyo Hitman Reborn!"
Gender: Unknown, for commodity purposes I'll be using female pronouns to refer to this character, however the character's gender is still up to whatever the canon will say
Age: Unknown, player's guess puts her in later teens, early twenties
Time Period: After her death, not shown in canon but mentioned. At some point before Tsuna and the rest of the Vongola traveled to the future, she was cornered in a battle against the Millefiore, who wanted to take the pacifier she had to protect. Despite receiving help from another Arcobaleno, Colonello, they wer overpowered and Colonello died. After that she killed herself seeing that there was no other way out. In canon she is always shown in the cursed baby form but I'll play her as in her real form under the assumption that after death the curse is lifted.
Wing Color: Indigo
History:
Link 1,
Link 2 Formerly known as Viper, there was a time in which she was known as a powerful psychic with a wide range of powers and who, at some point, began to add illusions to her repertoire of abilities. It's unknown for who she worked, how she came to obtain her powers and control them or why she decided to add illusions to them. However, it can be safely assumed that she had ties with the mafia world, probably working in it for a long time. It's known that back then she was already a greedy person, often seen counting her money when she had nothing else to do. It's also known that at some point she, together with other six people of great talent and skills, were summoned together, despite having never even seen each other prior to that summoning. The objectives of this reunion aren't clear but it's assumed that this summoning ended with the seven chosen and an interferer to be cursed. The curse transformed them to the form of a one year old infant, with the objective of protect a pacifier of a specific color, which matched their elemental property. Seven pacifiers in total and an eighth one being incomplete, soon after those events the group was known as the Arcobaleno, due the pacifiers matching the colors of the rainbow. Shortly after this event it's said that Viper's whereabouts became unknown and no one was able to find her again. Not even the other Arcobaleno could locate her, despite their pacifiers shining at the close presence of another Arcobaleno. Viper remained unable to be found in the world until years later, when the independent assassination squad of the Vongola family, the Varia, challenged the future tenth boss of the family for the position of Vongola's boss.
Once discovered as an Arcobaleno, Mammon stated that since after they were cursed, she had been trying to find a way to break the curse and return to her original body. It was during those investigations that she came accross with the creation of a chain capable of seal the powers of the pacifier, thus making her impossible to detect by other Arcobaleno except for her appearance. The details of how she ended as a member of the Varia are, once more, unknown though it's suggested that the members get a generous salary given their skills and the elite jobs they take care off; given Mammon's greedy nature it's possible that she joined simply for the money. Following Xanxus, the Varia's leader, orders, Mammon fought against the Mist Guardian, Chrome Dokuro, of the tenth Vongola boss. Despite Mammon's easy victory over Chrome, the battle took a turn to the worst once Chrome was possessed by Mukuro Rokudo, the real Mist Guardian jailed in an underwater prison. Unable to win against Mukuro, Mammon ended fleeing from the battle before death came to grasp her, abandoning her position in the Varia in the process. She didn't remain hidden for long thought, and was soon found and captured by the other Varia members in order to be present during the last battle of the challenge, the one facing both bosses against each other.
During the battle between the bosses, all the alive members of each group were brought into the battle, getting poisoned with a strong poison that left most of them unable to move and walking the path towards the after life. During those moments, Mammon agonized and begged Xanxus for forgiveness of her betrayal, even offering to give him all her money if he saved her life, showing that even despite all her greed, money fell from her priorities as soon as her life was in the line. At the end, it was thanks to a fellow member, Belphegor, that Mammon got the poison's antidote and recovered, trying to help Xanxus to get the proof of being the Vongola boss. Their attempts ended being proved useless since Xanxus wasn't blood related to the ninth Vongola boss, thus being unable to become his successor. After the battle ends, it's assumed Mammon returned to Italy with the rest of the Varia, her whereabouts being unknown once more to the reader. However it's later stated that by the time ten years had passed she had died along with almost all the other Arcobaleno, by taking her own life when a battle against an enemy chasing the pacifiers was proved to be impossible to win.
Personality: Mammon isn't a social butterfly, neither the kind of person who will talk to hours ends. She will never share tender and sweet memories of her childhood, neither will she talk about the bad ones, in fact, she's most likely to never tell anything about her past. She won't tell you anything you don't ask about, but even when you do ask, chances are that her answer will be vague or that she will require a fee in order to answer. Mammon isn't really silent, she has no problems talking and rare stops herself from teasing others somehow, however she's distant and not many can assure that they know her really, specially since it's not even known if she's really a girl or a boy. She can socialize like any other, and have fun conversations, for those who don't really pay attention she can even be considered 'nice and shy'. However, those with a higher awareness of their surroundings will just see her as a polite and unconcerned person. Privacy is something Mammon takes in great consideration, at the very least her privacy that is, as she has no problems sharing others' privacy in exchange of profit.
Always dressed in a long black cloak, with a hood always covering most of her face, Mammon isn't someone who stands up easily in a crowd, mostly being nothing but a shadow. She's a loner, preferring to remain left alone with her own matters, however she won't avoid company or reject it either. She prefers to work alone due several reasons, the first of them being that her skills work better if she doesn't have to watch out for allies that could get in the way, the second because that way she can keep most of her abilities in secret and thus avoid people being able to counterattack, and the third one being that by working alone she doesn't have to share the pay. It's probably the first thing anyone would notice of her: her greed. Normally that greed is directed primary to money, as in her opinion money is all that matters in the world, it's what makes it go round and civilizations go on. Maybe money can't buy her happiness, but it does a great job on trying. There's never enough money for her, and she won't reject a chance to earn more, be it by demanding payment from people she knows or by work:
Do you want to see her fighting/training/join her in training? Pay the fee. Maybe you want her to do something for you? Pay the fee. Or maybe you would prefer her to actually tell you something about her, which may or may not be a lie? Pay the fee, the amount you pay will settle the amount of truth in her answer. There's no such thing as "freebies" with Mammon, though it's possible to fall in her graces and get her to allow you to accumulate a debt and pay it later, with interests of course. However it would be wrong to assume that Mammon's greed focuses only in money, money is her priority only because with it she can get any other thing she may want. At the end, Mammon's core is mere pure greed, satisfied by possessions of any kind, the rarer and more valuable they are the better. Everything in the world must be paid for, be it with money or something else, there must be some gain to perform any task or any favor, even if the one being asked of it won't lose anything on it.
Though she's not a coward Mammon will often do her best to avoid any serious confrontation. She's not a straight fighter and even finds barbaric the idea of a direct fight with punches and kicks, because of that her first option always is to remain hidden and avoid any direct battle, letting others deal with the barbaric act. She hats to be put in the fire line and, if possible, will be fleeing away at the first chance to put a safe distance between the enemy and her. Mammon is a fighter of shadows and illusions, her presence in the battlefield must go unnoticed by the enemy as long as it's possible and a direct confrontation seems more like a suicide for her. She holds herself in enough high-esteem to not care to appear as a coward of a traitor, she doesn't need to have people think well of her after all, and as long as it assures her victory or her safety she will do anything. There's something that will make her not even care for her own safety, though, a deep fear inside her that will make her give up her fortune and anything she has in order to avoid it: A painful death.
Though some may think that she's afraid of death itself that's not exactly true. As greedy as she is, she isn't crazy enough to even consider that she won't die someday and doesn't really care about it. She has seen it too many times to be bothered by it, if anything she feels a slight annoyance at the possibility that her fortune won't go with her, neither will wait for her return if she ever reincarnates. No, death by itself isn't a matter for Mammon. A painful death, though, one filled with suffering, or a death that is a result of choices she wasn't able to make herself and was just thrown into it, is what really unsettles her. And she will do anything in her hand to avoid it, be it to flee from the battle and abandon her companions, give up her whole fortune to be saved or kill herself in a fast way when there's no other way out. After all, she's not afraid of being dead or dying, just of the pain she may suffer while she does, so why not take her own life and assure herself a painless death if there's no other option?
Strengths:
Mental: Mammon's strength resides in her mental capacities. She's a powerful psychic with a great control over her powers and she's also capable of creating illusions which require a strong and clear mind to work fully. She also posses a great mental resistance in order to fight back other illusionists though her confidence sometimes makes her drop her guard on that matter. Mammon is intelligent and has a good amount of knowledge, probably from getting information during her jobs and to sell it around for the proper price. She's good at quick thinking at stressful situations and can elaborate strategies beforehand, liking to be prepared.
Physical: Nothing remarkable. Mammon isn't a physical fighter of any kind and avoids direct battle. Any other physical skills are also, generally, looked down by her.
Emotional: Mammon is very good at keeping her emotions hidden. She keeps a practically perfect distant facade, remaining calm and undisturbed in most situations. She is confident of herself and has a great amount of pride besides her greed. She holds over her emotions the same control that she holds over her mental capacities, as both things go hand by hand when dealing with psychics and illusions.
Weaknesses:
Mental: Despite being quite intelligent, Mammon isn't a genius of any sort, her intelligence being just like anyone else though she is always far better informed. Mammon is quite stubborn, specially with matters dealing her curse or money, and doesn't do well listening to others when what they say opposes what she wants. She also seems quite prejudiced, quickly making judgments about people's capacities when she does feel she has a sure advantage; this has lead her to her defeat some times already. She' also seems to look down on anyone, female or male, though she seems to look down specially a lot on female illusionists.
Physical: Mammon isn't a physical fighter. Her general skills are just average, however her physical strength isn't something that can really be complimented. Her strength doesn't go beyond low average at most and she doesn't even care about it really either.
Emotional: Mammon's capacity to hide her emotions also makes her unable to really tune in with them, making her be anything by empathic or capable of feeling compassion. She has no attachment for anything or anyone that isn't her money and herself, she lacks attachment even to her emotions, not caring about them. In fact she doesn't care about anything almost, the result of hiding and denying her emotions for years. Though she can be playful and teasing, she's always cruel while doing so, though she not always has a real malice on it as it just comes out like that due her lack of emotions. Of course, she does have emotions, no matter how much she hides and controls them, and sometimes she can lose control over them, usually a result of a great amount of confusion or fear being triggered inside her. The moment Mammon loses her control over her emotions is normally the moment she loses a fight, as her mental control wavers at least a bit, allowing the enemy to make a counterattack. Also, due her stubbornness on keeping her emotions hidden, she lacks experience on dealing with them, which makes it harder for her to regain control of them once she loses it.
