Personality: Mammon isn't a social butterfly, neither the kind of person who will talk to hours ends. She will never share tender and sweet memories of her childhood, neither will she talk about the bad ones, in fact, she's most likely to never tell anything about her past. She won't tell you anything you don't ask about, but even when you do ask, chances are that her answer will be vague or that she will require a fee in order to answer. Mammon isn't really silent, she has no problems talking and rare stops herself from teasing others somehow, however she's distant and not many can assure that they know her really, specially since it's not even known if she's really a girl or a boy. She can socialize like any other, and have fun conversations, for those who don't really pay attention she can even be considered 'nice and shy'. However, those with a higher awareness of their surroundings will just see her as a polite and unconcerned person. Privacy is something Mammon takes in great consideration, at the very least her privacy that is, as she has no problems sharing others' privacy in exchange of profit.
Always dressed in a long black cloak, with a hood always covering most of her face, Mammon isn't someone who stands up easily in a crowd, mostly being nothing but a shadow. She's a loner, preferring to remain left alone with her own matters, however she won't avoid company or reject it either. She prefers to work alone due several reasons, the first of them being that her skills work better if she doesn't have to watch out for allies that could get in the way, the second because that way she can keep most of her abilities in secret and thus avoid people being able to counterattack, and the third one being that by working alone she doesn't have to share the pay. It's probably the first thing anyone would notice of her: her greed. Normally that greed is directed primary to money, as in her opinion money is all that matters in the world, it's what makes it go round and civilizations go on. Maybe money can't buy her happiness, but it does a great job on trying. There's never enough money for her, and she won't reject a chance to earn more, be it by demanding payment from people she knows or by work:
Do you want to see her fighting/training/join her in training? Pay the fee. Maybe you want her to do something for you? Pay the fee. Or maybe you would prefer her to actually tell you something about her, which may or may not be a lie? Pay the fee, the amount you pay will settle the amount of truth in her answer. There's no such thing as "freebies" with Mammon, though it's possible to fall in her graces and get her to allow you to accumulate a debt and pay it later, with interests of course. However it would be wrong to assume that Mammon's greed focuses only in money, money is her priority only because with it she can get any other thing she may want. At the end, Mammon's core is mere pure greed, satisfied by possessions of any kind, the rarer and more valuable they are the better. Everything in the world must be paid for, be it with money or something else, there must be some gain to perform any task or any favor, even if the one being asked of it won't lose anything on it. But don't think that money is actually her only priority, it has a high importance but her life and safety come first, should she be suspicious that some easy money may be too dangerous to get it she will forfeit the chance and move on, what good does a fortune if she's not alive to enjoy it?
Though she's not a coward Mammon will often do her best to avoid any serious confrontation. She's not a straight fighter and even finds barbaric the idea of a direct fight with punches and kicks, because of that her first option always is to remain hidden and avoid any direct battle, letting others deal with the barbaric act. She hats to be put in the fire line and, if possible, will be fleeing away at the first chance to put a safe distance between the enemy and her. Mammon is a fighter of shadows and illusions, her presence in the battlefield must go unnoticed by the enemy as long as it's possible and a direct confrontation seems more like a suicide for her. She holds herself in enough high-esteem to not care to appear as a coward of a traitor, she doesn't need to have people think well of her after all, and as long as it assures her victory or her safety she will do anything. There's something that will make her not even care for her own safety, though, a deep fear inside her that will make her give up her fortune and anything she has in order to avoid it: A painful death.
Though some may think that she's afraid of death itself that's not exactly true. As greedy as she is, she isn't crazy enough to even consider that she won't die someday and doesn't really care about it. She has seen it too many times to be bothered by it, if anything she feels a slight annoyance at the possibility that her fortune won't go with her, neither will wait for her return if she ever reincarnates. No, death by itself isn't a matter for Mammon. A painful death, though, one filled with suffering, or a death that is a result of choices she wasn't able to make herself and was just thrown into it, is what really unsettles her. And she will do anything in her hand to avoid it, be it to flee from the battle and abandon her companions, give up her whole fortune to be saved or kill herself in a fast way when there's no other way out. After all, she's not afraid of being dead or dying, just of the pain she may suffer while she does, so why not take her own life and assure herself a painless death if there's no other option?
Canon Background:
Wikia AU Background: Born in Mirrodon, at the continent of Cross, there was a time in which Mammon hold the name of Peony at the eyes of her parents who took care of her and raised her through her first years. However it's highly possible that the people who she remembers as her parents, their figures as their faces have long since been erased from her memory, weren't really her parents and instead were just people nice enough to not let a baby starve to death or be stepped on by accident. In fact, if it wasn't because her own existence and survival in the damned city of Mirrodon up to the age of five she would have come to doubt the existence of such people, so vague is her recollection of them, the only clear recollection she has of the people she addressed to as her parents is the memory of their deaths. One after the other, both had their lives terminated early right in front of the child's eyes. The man she called father died from a serious illness, deep in pain and fever to the point in which he didn't recognize even his own name; the woman was killed some weeks later, murdered after being tortured and raped endlessly by a gang to whom they owned a payment, an event Mammon witnessed from a hiding place that she didn't leave until the ones who killed her mother were gone.
Left all alone in the world and without a single cent to her name, the girl had to get rough in order to survive, not wanting to fall to any painful death like the ones her parents had suffered. There weren't many options for a poor girl to try to make a living and keep her sanity and dignity, so she began to hide her gender, acting as a boy and adopting the name of Viper. She began to steal in order to eat or buy food and even ended working together with some gangs though she never swore loyalty to any of them and was always the first to run away if things turned badly, abandoning the gang and its members to their fate and going on to life alone and later join another gang that could serve her to survive. Life was hard but Viper managed to go along with it, she ended making herself a name in the city despite her young age and though her reputation often had the shadow of her lack of loyalty she still was able to even get some easy jobs with high pay and high risks no one else wanted to do.
Viper never made real friends, the other children in a situation similar to her and all the adults were just tools for her to use to get money or food more easily and posed a danger at the possibility of them finding that she was a girl, she didn't trust them to not force her to sell her body to get money and food and it wasn't surprising seeing how some of them forced their own sisters to do that. Because of that she always kept distant from everyone and that, together with her problems with the big gangs due her lack of loyalty to them and the easy way she would sell them, ended pushing her to a nomad life in the city and, as her legs grew stronger and more capable of bringing her further, to the world outside Mirrodon. Jumping from one city to another, staying around for a while to get food and money and, once things started to get too annoying with the police or the usuals of the city's dark alleys, leaving with ease and no regrets, that was the lifestyle Mammon ended acquiring. Traveling all alone, merely holding an old and half broken plushie she had had since she could remember and which she called Fantasma, her only precious possession besides any money she could get.
Her life changed, though, when destiny made Viper to meet a scouter from a school headed by and for the mafia, by that time Mammon had already discovered her psychic powers, which helped her to survive and get around the world more easily, and she was quickly taken to the school in order to be trained as an assassin. The best part of the deal wasn't just the fact that now she would have a ceiling above her head for sure during the time she stayed there, or that she had a job ensured for her future, it was the fact that in the mafia world people accepted to pay her for her services with money and not just the kindness to let her sleep somewhere dry at night. In fact many expected her to demand payment and Mammon quickly took advantage of that fact, soon making herself a name within the school due her high fees and yet her good work, despite Viper's usual lack of loyalty the mafia was very different from the gangs she had come to know and thus she wasn't able to pull the same tricks as then and go around just getting money and doing no work. With the doors of a new life opening for her Viper changed her name once more, adopting Mammon as her name and stopping posing as a boy though she still kept several mannerisms and speech patterns proper of a boy. However, despite working well within the school and with the early jobs she got from the mafia there, Mammon still kept her distances and made no loyalties, staying as more of a mercenary than a mafia member. At least until a loud guy with long white hair assaulted her one day in the halls of the school and dragged her into the Varia together with other new members, a group headed by Xanxus, the ninth Vongola boss's son. The Varia was an organization of assassins that worked for the Vongola Mafioso family for the most part though often they did have their own agenda and even each of the members had it, which allowed Mammon total freedom in her actions as long as she fulfilled whatever orders she was given, something she enjoyed even if she wasn't happy at first with her inclusion in the group as it was forced. Still she soon found her loyalties tied to Xanxus and the Varia and being in the Varia allowed her to meet the first people she could be tempted to call "friends", the only people from whom despite demanding payment she never bothered to actually get them.
Life was finally good for Mammon, the pressure of each day being a survival test vanished and she found herself considering a place as her "home" and a group of people as her "friends" despite often getting in fights among themselves. However it wasn't made to last, where Mammon had gotten the idea that the group would always be together and that she would end her studies in that school, destiny decided to play a trick on her, sending Belphegor, whose company she often seek and enjoyed specially, on a scouting mission to Estrasia Academy. Though Mammon had received the invitation too she had been reluctant to go, preferring to stay with the Varia, at her "home". At least until she saw Belphegor being sent there, despite the fact that the mission was supposed to take just four years, Mammon found herself unable to endure the lack of her probably "best friend" for more than a year. And thus she ended going to Estrasia Academy herself a year after Belphegor was sent there first, saying that Belphegor owed her money -which wasn't a lie- and she didn't want him to run away and don't pay her. Her decision probably also was influenced by her wish to get a better hold of her powers, specially her illusions which she found to be weak despite having a great potential, which helped her to be more believable when she said that it wasn't because she missed Belphegor.
Appearance: Thin and slender, normal sized breasts for her age and strong arms and legs from her trainning and early life fighting to survive. There are scars here and there on her body but who can say to have never been hurted when every day was almost a survival carnage? All this, from her scars to her breasts and her slender figure, is hidden under a huge cape and a coat, a hood covering her eyes almost constantly leaving most of her appareance and even her gender to the mystery. Her eyes are dark purple colored when one manages to get a glimpse of them and her hair falls short to her shoulders, a vivir purple color on its strands.

Injuring/Maiming: Go ahead.
Killing: Ask first please, if it serves for a plot or something I won't have problems but if it's just for "just wanna kill someone" I may not agree.
Hugging, Kissing, etc.: Fine I suppose, don't expect her to be thrilled, however she's mostly used to it by now after living with Lussuria and because of Bel too.
Deaging, Genderswapping, etc.: Yup.
Mindreading: Mammon has a strong mind due her own psychic abilities and the illusionary powers and often blocks her mind, however ask and probably I'll say yes, at the very least she leaves unprotected the most superficial thoughts.
