Time heals all wounds....but not band-aids!!!

A special message especially for moms of young children!!

A few days ago, Lila suddenly had a pretty nasty scratch on the side of her face. I'm assuming a certain big brother might have done it with his crazy long fingernails (they've since been taken care of). Anyway, I did the typical thing, band-aid. We actually use Curel brand since they seal around all 4 edges and not just the 2 long ends, and they tend to last longer (likely because of the sealing thing). It was a perfect fit for the scratch and I tried not to think of how terrible it would be to pull that sucker off in a few days. Lila beat me to it. Sometime between going to bed last night and waking up this morning, the band-aid ended up on the floor. What was left on her face looked TERRIBLE!! I immediately called the nurse to see if there was anything I could put on it to make it heal quicker. She said hydrocortizone and it would still take 2-3 days. Apparently, it's not uncommon for kids to be allergic or overly sensitive to the adhesive on band-aids! I had NO idea!!! I always thought the "children's" band-aids were just labeled "children's" because they had cartoon characters and would ideally prevent the kids from pulling them off every chance they got. Since the kids haven't reached that stage yet and they are way more expensive, we've just stuck with plain old boring ones. Big mistake apparently. So, the next time we're at Wal-Mart, we'll be picking up some sort of child's bandages.....hopefully we can find something that both Daniel and Lila approve of. Though, I'm a little afraid that the bright colors might actually attract the kids to pull at them.....

You can see a picture of Lila's newly maimed face here. :-(
